I started sailing in a mirror dinghy with my dad when I was 10 years old and have gone on to sailing various boats from 505’s to 49er’s at World and European championships. I started running and cycling to keep fit enough to sail and this has taken me to several double ironmans and a few years of competitive bike racing on the road. Recently, I’ve given long distance running a go, finishing (and even enjoying bits of) the 350km Tor des Geants in the Italian Alpes last year.

I have raced dinghies all my life ranging from Lasers and Aero’s to International Moths and RS800s. Also raced and cruised on yachts in the Solent, English channel and transatlantic. I sail out of Hayling Island sailing club in Chichester Harbour.
Also I’m a trail runner and mountain biker, more recently that involves off road marathons in the south downs, hiking in the Alps or Lake district and trying to stay ahead of my teenage son at the local parkrun. Looking forward to the combination of both sailing and running in one event.

Sailing: sailed multiple racing dinghies since age 14 primarily an RS400 as crew and helm and have a good national record.
Running: I started in about 2013 with my wife as a means of getting really fit to combat (successfully) my wife’s diagnosis of Hodgkins lymphoma. Recent lockdown has provided a great opportunity to push on and increase distance and pace. Some examples below:
Multiple 5 and 10 Km races
Multiple sprint triathlons
2x Cambridge half marathon
2022 Peak District 70th Birthday – Half bash (35km) – 17th overall – 3rd V50 age category
2022 Ladybower Half Marathon – 63rd overall – 4th V50 age category
