Dr. Charles Clarke – Skipper
Charlie Clarke is a 79 year old neurologist who's been sailing for over 70 years, and recently back from the Beagle Channel, Chile. He has skippered Whisky Galore on four Three Peaks Yacht Races, the last in 2021. He has also climbed since the age of 16 - and once ran, but gave that up when he was about 40.
Angharad Hampshire - Crew
Occupation: Journalist and Author
Angharad Hampshire is a 50 year old journalist and author. She sailed around Anglesey, Ireland and Scotland on Whisky from 2000-2009 and was Whisky's navigator in the Three Peaks Race in 2008. In 2009 and 10, she raced in X-yachts in Hong Kong. She has RYA Competent Crew and Day Skipper qualifications.
She's run on and off since her 30s and has completed the Paris Marthon and Sydney half marathon as well as some fell races in Hong Kong. She's currently learning to row with York City Rowing Club.
Richard Disney - Runner
Occupation: Event Business Owner
He has completed the Three Peaks Challenge 'about five times' but never by sea. He runs a hospitality agency, marquee hire & event-planning businesses in Hampshire. He runs regularly, doing half marathons, lronman challenges and orienteering and has trekked extensively in Australasia, Nepal and Britain.
Stein Hoff - Crew

I am a Norwegian physician, studied in Glasgow, retired April 2023. Competitive rowing since 1962, Scottish and Norwegian national rowing champion. Ocean sailing since 1976, circumnavigated with wife and children 1977-82. Several Atlanic yacht crossings 1989-2014. Skippered rented yachts in the Caribbean 2017, 2018, 2019. Rowed across the Atlantic 1997, 2002 and 2016. Many World Master Rowing Championships 1993-2022. Loves kayaking, biking, skiing and hiking. Triathlons and running lots in the past (incl. the New York and the Sahara Marathon). Author of 5 books on maritime subjects (in Norwegian).
Simon Mayell - Runner
Occupation: Freelance Consultant
Simon Mayell is a 45 year old freelance consultant with a lifelong passion for adventure. He's been walking, climbing and mountain biking in the British hills since his youth and started running regularly in 2008, initially to rehabilitate a broken ankle from a climbing fall, but soon for the joy of wild places. He was a Lake District Mountain Rescue team member in his early twenties and has competed in numerous trail and mountain marathons, fell races and the occasional ultra distance event but this is his first Three Peaks Yacht Race.
