A commercial Ocean Yachtmaster with over 95,000NM, including 25,000 of offshore racing experience, who has skippered numerous races including Sydney Hobarts, Fastnets and Round Irelands. Part of the team on The Stick which took line Honours in the Lord Howe Island race in 2011 he also skippered Helsal 3 to be first Tasmanian Yacht to finish in 2013 Sydney Hobart and took Team prize in the 2104 Round Ireland race. As co-skipper of Team Wight Rose, 1st on corrected time for 2015 Three Peaks Yacht Race . He was Helm on Helsal when it won Division Honours in Sydney to Hobart 2015 and 2016.

Claims to fame are to have been rendered unconscious by a wooden leg, been detained under the prevention of terrorism act and looked a killer whale in the eye from less than 6 foot.

Navigated Helsal 3 to first in Division in 2016 Sydney to Hobart and has a wealth of Offshore racing experience having done all the classic ocean races over 600 nm including the Round Britain and Ireland non-stop. Cruised as far North as N.E. Greenland and as far South as Cape Horn but first 3 Peaks!
Claim to fame – passed through the eye of a cat. 4 typhoon in the South China Sea, an experience to be avoided if at all possible so will be ensconced in the bar if the forecast looks anything like that.

Wil is a late replacement for the sadly injured Hugh Aggleton. The rest of the team are very grateful to Wil for stepping in at short notice. As a Cumbrian and resident of the Lake District, he is a very experienced fellrunner and has completed races from short to ultra distance. He also has experience of this type of race, having completed the Scottish Island Peaks race. Wil is also a keen Motorcyclist and chicken enthusiast.
