Pete Ashworth – Skipper

Occupation: Company Director

Age: 59

Nationality: British

I’ve been racing sailing dinghies competitively for over 40 years and have been offshore sailing for the last 15. Dinghy classes have included the Laser, Enterprise, RS800, International 14 and the Finn. Competing at local club level and on the national circuit.

Having had a few years off from offshore sailing I purchased our current yacht ‘ZigZag’ a Jeaneau Sunfast 3200 in 2016.  We competed in the Round the Island race the same year and other racing events down on the Solent, the boat will now be moved to Pwllheli as a base for racing in the Irish sea.

I have sailed since the age of 7. Starting in dinghies, I progressed into yachts in my late teens and now regularly race on the Solent, Med and Caribbean. I come with added experience as I competed in the 2012 Three Peaks Yacht Race.  Away from yacht racing, I am also a keen long distance runner having completed over 30 half marathons, 3 full marathons and one ultra-marathon in the past 4 years.

Phil Lees - Crew

Occupation: Adventurer

Age: 57

Gender: Male

Nationality: British

Started sailing as a youngster with my parents, whetted my head a few times on the Norfolk broads where my brother and I were set adrift to follow mum and dad.

A few foreign flotilla holidays and a charter or two in Scotland. Sailed around Ireland last year, with a tour of the small isles and the Western Isles  towards the latter part of the year. As you do we popped over to St Kilda archipelago whilst on the West Coast, one off the list!

John Hunt - Runner

Ice Climber and rock climber, fell runner, I simply love playing out. My racing database to date sits at 912 races in 28 years of running. I consider myself extremely lucky to have got to that number and still counting.

If I had to list my top 15 most delightful wins I’d include:

Karrimor Mountain Marathon (KIMM) Elite, Lowe Alpine MM (LAMM) Elite, Saunders MM (SLMM) Scafell, Open Country MM, Old County Tops, Ras Pedol Peris, The Devil’s Gallop, The Royal Dockray Helvelyn

Lawrence Eccles - Runner

Occupation: Project Engineer

Age: ?-36

I've been running since 2007. Before that I did mostly mountaineering including the Matterhorn with a mate and the Cuillin ridge traverse solo.

In running I've done the Lakeland 100 (105 miles) 5 times and the Fellsman (61 miles) 8 times. I've also done Spartathlon (153 miles), the Dragon's Back (180 miles) and the Spine (270miles) in the same calendar year.
