I started dinghy sailing over 40 years ago progressing to yachts in the Solent and bareboating in the Med and Australia. I have skippered and navigated my way around in various parts of the world.

Only took up running 5 years ago but have now completed 10 marathons.

In 2014 I was a member of all-rounders team which successfully completed the Scottish Islands Peaks Race.

Robert McCaffrey: “Life is too short to put off your dreams for a day longer than necessary. Skippering a yacht in the Tilman Trophy Class (‘all-rounders’) of the Three Peaks Yacht Race has been an aim of mine for nearly 20 years and I have spent a chunk of my life training for this year and this race. Our team name reflects our approach to the event: ‘If not now, then when?’ Just getting to the start line is half the battle.“
