Hopefully we may be a little quicker than last time I did this race? 25 years ago a very enlightened lady called Elizabeth Gyngell thought that entering a team of Health and Safety Executive Inspectors in the race would be a way of promoting sensible risk management.
It was and we finished. But a Sadler 26 bilge keeler does not go very fast. The reception we were given by the very nice soldiers running the safety net who had been bivvying out on the top of The Ben waiting 2 days for us to turn up was at best forced politeness; well you can probably guess some of what they said?

So I have done it before. I have also done a bit of sailing including Fastnets, Armen, Round Ireland and some more running including a KIMM, and I have even done a SIPR.

Sailing experience, various local club and MOCRA multihull racing in Cornwall, two Fastnets and one Two Handed Round Britain and Ireland. I'm not a runner

I was talked into this during the dark depths of lockdown. We have a local race in the South West called the 3 Creeks which I've done a couple of times and if that was fun then the big one should be even better.

I haven’t done the race before but I have played a very important part in someone else's entry ... dropping a bottle of gin and some tonics onto a “dry” Sadler bilge keeler just before they left Caernarfon as part of a rehydration and anti-cramp strategy seemed like positive medical aid and a necessary intervention.
And yes I have also done Fastnets, Armen, Round Ireland and some running including a KIMM and surprisingly enough I have done an SIPR as well.

After all these years racing I still appear not to be able to say no ! The 3 Peaks race has always been one that I’ve wanted to do but normal years are too busy - so maybe one of the few positives of circumstances this year is that I get to finally do this iconic race. When Tom asked me it didn’t take too long to decide !
