AJAX belongs to the Royal Armoured Corps Yacht Club, and is run and raced for the benefit of serving and retired officers and soldiers of the Corps. In 2017 a young military team won the Tilman Cup sailing Ajax and they are back to try and retain the trophy with a different team. (All except Alastair.)

Having grown up sailing Drascombes on the West Coast of Ireland, Monty attained his Yachtmaster Offshore in 2012 and began racing soon afterwards. He has raced in the JOG, ISORA and RORC series, in addition to completing several seasons as an IYT Sailing Instructor with Activity Yachting in Croatia. He is a passionate surfer and runner. Monty has served with The Royal Yeomanry during his time at University and raced for the Army on several occasions.

Tony has extensive fell running, endurance and mountaineering experience. Notable achievements include completing the Bob Graham Round and West Highland Way Race.
He is a sporadic cyclist which has included Lands End to John O’Groats. He is also a keen sailor, growing up with dinghy sailing but now preferring the warmth of a yacht. Tony served 17 years in the regular Army but now works as an NHS GP alongside serving with the Army reserves.

​Sergeant Farrell is a passionate cyclist and runner who has recently branched out into sailing, completing RYA Competent Crew through the Army. He has completed running events as far afield as Iraq and, much closer to home, spends time in the hills and cycling in the dales near to Catterick Garrison. He has spent 17 years serving in the Royal Dragoon Guards on a range of platforms.

Returning for a second year, Ali was a member of the RACYC team who won the Tilman Trophy last year, and is keen to defend it. Ali cut his teeth medaling in Cambrian Patrol, a challenging International Patrols competition. He has run Keswick to Barrow (40 miles) on several occasions, as well as the 4 Inns Walk, and competed in several marathons and Iron Man competitions.

Although relatively new to sailing, Kirsty is passionate about trail running and is well within her comfort zone in the mountains. Having hiked several mountains, including Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Blanc, she consolidated her experience at altitude by completing a Summer Mountain Foundation course in 2018.
