Runners wanted down under!
Piers Copham, Geoff West and John Donnelly, stalwarts of the Barmouth to Fort William Three Peaks Race, are off to support the Australian Three Peaks this year but don't have definite runners as yet. The race starts from Beauty Point, Tasmania on Good Friday and to whet your appetites, you might like to know that the wholesome Jessica Watson is taking part. Jessica was, until the news we had of Laura Dekker this week, the youngest girl to sail solo, unassisted round the world.

Are you looking for an addition to your team 2012?
I’ve just been looking over the Three Peaks race after searching for a new activity to try in 2012. I’ve done a little sailing, certified to Day Skipper though would definitely be more of a ‘helping hand’ on the boat. Running is definitely more my strength, I completed Berlin marathon in 3.07 end of last year with very little training and am aiming for sub 3 hours in Rotterdam this year. I’m also a keen triathlete. I don’t have a group to form a boat (though I’m working on it) but wondered if there are people contacting you looking for someone to make up numbers in an existing group (particularly a runner) and if I’d be a good fit? I’m really keen to get more sailing experience, and love running so thought it could potentially work well for all parties if there was a space to fill.
If there’s nothing right now, but you could keep me in mind should a space on a boat crop up, I’d really appreciate it. I’m good at making tea in rough seas too!

Any boats looking for crew
I am 39 year old male from Vancouver, BC, Canada and would love to join in the challenge. I am an experienced Pacific Northwest sailor and have competed in overnight yacht races (www.southernstraits.ca , www.swiftsure.org) as well as a 500+ mile circumnavigation race of Vancouver Island (www.vanisle360.com) which included overnight offshore legs. I am competent in all positions including Bowman (asymetrical), Trimmer, Navigation and Driver. I completed safety at sea training in 2010 and have a certificate valid through 2015.
I am also a runner and have completed several marathons with a personal best of 3:18 in 2010 and am training for seven marathons in this coming year. Aside from my racing and running I also very much enjoy hiking and live at the base of Cypress Mountain (5,000 ft elevation) near Vancouver, Canada.
If anyone would be in the need of an extra runner/sailor/racer I would be very interested in discussing opportunities.

I am a gualified RYA Yachtmaster and I would like to get in touch with any yacht which requires crew for this year’s race. Keith Mander’s Sigma 38 OOD is available for Three Peaks Yacht Race charter
Based in Conwy North Wales, Mistral of St Helier, is a MCA coded and ISAF Cat 2 equipped yacht with full instruments, AIS, North Kevlar sails and Carbon Oars. She has a 3PYR pedigree having competed three times gaining 8th, 9th and 15th out of fleets of over 30 boats. In 2008 it became the 9th fastest mono-hull in the 3PYR history completing the race in 3 days 2 hours 22 minutes. In 2011 racing as Adidas Terrex she beat the other two Sigma 38’s. Charter is offered complete with full set racing sails, all charts and pilot books. Sigma 38’s are offshore one design racers and require experienced sailors.
